White Fete sets the stage for a sizzling summer

The highlight of the country’s social calendar was once again a white-hot affair. With a sensational new venue and a string of high-energy performers, White Fete continues to reign supreme as the undisputed champion of the annual pre-Carnival shindigs.

Monochromatic revellers poured into the Sticky Wicket in Coolidge on July 5 for the 13th installment of the elegant bash, dubbed the Caribbean Snow Storm. The former Stanford cricket ground had been transformed into a magnificent scene of billowing backdrops and dancefloors, with food and drink stations in abundance. Those who stumped up extra for access to the all-inclusive Remy Martin ultra-VIP lounge were treated to a sumptuous buffet and air-conditioned luxury – a welcome feature in the wake of last year’s sweltering surrounds at the Sandpiper Resort. Another inspired addition was the creation of a shoe check service for anyone wishing to ditch the high heels for flats as the night wore on.

Delectable comestibles included a vast array of handmade sweet treats such as choc pops and a chocolate fountain complete with marshmallows and fresh fruit. Among the savoury goodies were hot dogs, burritos and homemade chips.

Entertainment was aptly provided by Trinidian DJ Nuphoric, DJ Quixx, special guest Demarco from Jamaica – best known for the 2011 hit ‘Love My Life’ – and White Fete staple, the indefatigable Tizzy and El-A-Kru.
